As the weather gets warmer – canals, dams, and rivers seem like a fun place to go for a swim, but can quickly become a place of danger and disaster.
Sea Rescue Water Safety lessons give children a chance to learn about the dangers that water sources hold and prepare themselves for a safe holiday season.
Have a P.L.A.N.
P – pack all items needed, water, food, sun protections, flotation aids
L – look for an area where it is safe, look for lifeguards, look for rips, look after your friends
A – ask for permission so that everyone knows where you are, ask a responsible adult to take you, ask the lifeguards if you are not sure which area is safe
N – never swim alone, never drink alcohol before you swim, never jump or dive in if you can’t see what’s in the water
